This event was organised entirely by members of the Auckland JET Alumni Association (JETAA). The JET (Japan Exchange and Teaching) programme is aimed at promoting grass-roots international exchange between Japan and other nations. In 2010, the JET programme welcomed 4,334 participants from 36 countries, and 91 of these were first year NZ JETs, with a total of 206 NZ participants who currently live in Japan.

All members of Auckland JETAA have participated on the JET programme, and lived in Japan for between one and five years. Each of us was deeply affected by the disaster that occurred in Japan on March 11, and many of us have close friends that live in the affected region.

Our charity dinner “Ganbare Japan” is our response to the disaster. Please show your support for Japan and buy a ticket. Contact us with your name and the number of tickets you require, and we will provide bank account details.
